Dr. Jonathan Ritvo is currently Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Senior Medical Director of the CeDAR (Center for Dependence, Addiction and Recovery) Program at the University of Colorado Hospital. He also maintains a private practice in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry in Denver and is board certified by the ABPN in both fields. He has supervised and taught residents and medical students for 36 years, and specialized in addiction psychiatry for 25 years.
He received his MD from Harvard Medical School. He served as an intern in medicine at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston and subsequently as resident and chief resident in psychiatry at the University of Colorado.
From 1995 to 2008 he was the training director for addiction psychiatry at the University of Colorado. From 2007 to 2014 he was the medical director of the CEDAR Program at the University of Colorado Hospital. He has served as a Part II examiner and senior examiner for the ABPN psychiatry exams and on the ABPN addiction psychiatry exam writing committee. From 1999-2007 he served on the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry Board of Directors as Chief of the Education Section. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and served as chairperson of the APA Committee on Training and Education in Addiction Psychiatry.
